Monday, Oct. 06, 2003 - 4:45 p.m. Greetings, I just finished my favorite Anne Rice book in years, “Blackwood Farm”. Yes, it’s breathless and, yes, the characters all profess love and hate for each other in the blink of an eye and don’t tend to hold back anything, ever. But still. Lestat is in it. Merrick is in it. Mona Mayfair is in it. And the most engaging young protagonist vampire in many a year, Quinn. I heartily recommend it and I think it’s tragic I waited until it came out in paperback before I picked it up. I can’t wait for Blood Canticle so I can find out what happened after the cliffhanger ending of this book. I have a sinus headache and I have zero motivation today to anything much resembling work. But who cares anyway? I love it when people walk by my cube and peer in to see what I am doing and I am doing nothing. Fuck you, asshole secretaries! Right now I would like to go home please. Pretty please? I would like to watch “Fantasy Island” and Sponge Bob and look admiringly at all the Halloween decorations that have turned Crescentwood into a haunted house. Saturday night Thomas and I both took matching baths at the same time. I think I got more hot water, but he’s bath was not stone cold or anything. We both soaked for a good 40 minutes apiece in Bath and Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin scented bubbles. We both had candles, and oddly enough, we both had glasses of champagne. It was interesting to think of his back leaning up against the same wall mine was but on the other side of it of course. And of him breathing in the same scent. (The bath gel kicks major BTW. Get out and treat yourself to a bottle of it.) The bedroom was bathed in an orange/amber glow that can’t help but conjure up the word “Halloween” in my mind. The glow came from a string of scarecrow pumpkin head shaped lights draped around the bedroom window. The lights and a cardboard cutout of a skull (taped to the outside of the bathroom door) are the decorations in the bedroom. Although I suppose the cardboard cutout of the black cat sitting on a fence taped to the outside door of the bedroom could count as bedroom decoration, although you can only see it from the dining room. Ahh, I just got off the phone with my baby. He reports that our new South Park DVD “Ghost, Ghouls, and Underpants Gnomes” has arrived and so tonight we shall be viewing Halloween South Park style! Much better than “Fantasy Island”! Well, I’d better post this and start wrapping things up for the day! Until next time, Olrun
