Greetings,

Kharis is running great again after the Great Fuel Pump Incident on the way to Houston. The Lake Charles Saturn dealership said they had to replacee several fuel pumps recently so I’m wondering if it’s one of those model defects that happen from time to time. Kharis had just over 13,000 miles on the speedometer when the pump shit the bed.

Now he’s got 13,600 with all the driving this weekend.

I love Houston and everyone in Houston, but damn that was a long ass drive this time.

Good news is that we escaped the tornadoes and torrential downpour that hit a few hours after we left. It did rain (sometimes pour) most of Sunday, but it was clear when we left thankfully. It’s bad enough to drive at night, but in blinding rain? Bleh.

The rental car we got (FREE) was a white Ford Taurus. It was a nice car, but it wasn’t Kharis.

I’m pretty much recovered from the sleep deficit. I slept until 11 a.m. yesterday and went to bed around 10. Poor Thomas went to take a nap at 5 and asked me to get him up in a couple of hours – which I tried to do – but it was no go. He was out for the count. So he got a solid 12 hours of sleep last night which hopefully has restored him.

This weekend we have plans to do a lot of nothing – except we are caftaning on Saturday night. I am looking forward to a nice long bath since I didn’t get to take one this past weekend.

It’s very grey and wet outside right now. The weather in Houston moved here. We had some tornado like effects on the Westblank earlier, but it seems to be mostly over. The rain is supposed to bring in a cool/cold front and I hope it does because it is unseasonably warm here in New Orleans. Not even sweater weather.

Friday was nice and crisp, but the rest of the weekend it was pretty warm. Tommy even turned on the heat Friday morning. That was great. But it’s air-conditioning at the moment again.

I can pick a few lemons from the tree this week. They are nice and ripe. If it wasn’t dark when I got up and dark when I got home, I’d pick them sometime this week, but I think it will have to wait until Saturday.

I found some flavored seltzer water at Schwinn Pixie and I am buying up a shitload when I do the weekly shop tomorrow night. Not diet water. Not water with sugar and a billion calories, but just plain flavored seltzer water with zero calories. YUUUUM. I’m tired of iced tea frankly.

If you haven’t noticed, I’m rambling from topic to topic here today without much organization.

Kristen and Austin have a lovely apartment in Houston. Very cozy. It reminds me a bit of John's old Cad Pad, probably because it’s a Houston apartment and they all have the stucco wall effect and the wall to wall carpeting.

Kristen and Austin’s place has a pretty large living room/dining room area and then this very cute, narrow galley kitchen, but it’s in its own separate little room with a window at the end. There’s something about long narrow rooms that speak to me, I don’t know why.

When it rains you can really hear it coming down in their apartment. That’s a big plus. They are on the ground floor so you hear the rain hitting the ground versus John'sCad Pad where you could hear the rain on the roof since he was on the top floor.

This Thursday is the last Thanksgiving episode “Friends” will ever make. So I’m crossing my fingers it will be a good one. Tommy and I came up with a great idea to take Season 1-5 Thanksgiving episodes to North Carolina with us so we can have a mini Thanksgiving “Friends-y” at my parents’ house.

My dad and I started this Thanksgiving tradition where we watched “It’s a Wonderful Life” on Thanksgiving night but after several years of this, my father said he could no longer stomach the movie. So we chose “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”.

Last year we watched Peter Sellers in “The Party” because my friend Leslie didn’t like the Vacation movie and she was visiting overnight.

Maybe this year it will be 2 and a half hours of Friends celebrating Thanksgiving!

My all time favorite Thanksgiving episode was the one from (I think) Season 2 when they have the flag football game. That was hysterical. I also liked the one where the Gellers came to dinner after Monica and Chandler moved in together only they didn’t know he was living with Monica. And the one where Brad Pitt guest starred was also really funny.

Well, I’m just rambling and I have some work to do, so I’ll say so long for now.

Until next time,

Olrun
