Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003 - 4:19 p.m. Greetings, This afternoon was the last holiday luncheon at work. We went to Copeland’s, a restaurant I swore I would never set foot in because of the founder’s (Al Copeland) horrible treatment of Anne Rice (and the fact he’s really not that admirable of person to begin with IMO). Since Anne Rice is the reason I met Tommy in the first place, I tend to be protective of her. :) Food was okay, but it wasn’t anything I’d break my long-standing vow to repeat. I only went this time out of a sense of work unity. I truly like all the people I work with and want to continue to preserve my team spirit. Plus I didn’t have a say in restaurants. Next year I will have more tenure! When I got back from lunch I had a poinsettia plant waiting for me, plus two bottles of wine, and some gardenia soap and body spray. I’m getting spoiled! Tomorrow when we stop at PJs for coffee, I’m buying up a lot of cocoa and tea and coffee for everyone to enjoy. It’s a good gift, plus it supports New Orleans economy! Last night we went to Lowe’s for my desk only to discover they don’t have any of them in stock and it would be a month’s wait to order one. Blah. Instead we decided to check out Office Depot tonight. The added benefit to that is I could, conceivably also get the chair tonight too depending on the money situation. I have $300; I could possibly pull this off. After the disappointing jaunt around Lowe’s, we went to PetSmart because I had a $25 gift certificate. We went in search of a litter box that might defeat Meow’s penchant for pissing all over the goddamn place. We ended up with a very big, hooded box and the best thing is that it fits in the corner and covers lots of space. Meow will probably freak out over the hooded part, but maybe she’ll cooperate and even if she pees over the side (as usual), since it is hooded, it only has one place to go – in front on the puppy pad. No more side to side action. In theory. Wish me luck on this! Just heard that Elijah Wood is going to be King of Bacchus this year at Mardi Gras. There will be a special “Ring” themed float for him to ride on. No doubt the throws will all have something to do with the trilogy as well. I believe I will walk my ass up to St. Charles to watch Bacchus this year. Catch me some Lord of the Ring beads and doubloons! Must accomplish some work this afternoon, so it’s another short entry again today! Will wonders never cease! Until next time, Olrun
