Greetings,

I had a pretty decent weekend. It was very quiet and laid back and involved lots of cats on my lap.

Thursday night after work I went home and after watching “Friends”, drew myself a lovely lavender scented bubble bath which I relaxed in for quite a while reading a Raymond Chandler novel – “The Last Goodbye” I believe or maybe “The Lady in the Lake”.

Afterwards, as it was cold, I donned my Christmas present Eyeore pajamas and my Serenity Blue caftan before pouring out more champagne and retiring to the living room to watch a Poirot murder mystery – Hickory Dickory Death.

It was just the thing for a Thursday night.

I slept pretty late on Friday morning and shuffled out to the kitchen to make coffee and watch “House Invaders” and “Changing Rooms” until my eyes were sufficiently open to being the day.

The one thing I accomplished on Friday that makes me particularly proud is the fact that I stormed into my bathroom and cleaned it to within an inch of its pristine white life. Scrubbed tiles, wiped down walls and woodwork, rearranged my medicine cabinet. The works!

Since I put John’s old bookcase/altar in my walk-in closet and made it into a sort of dressing room where I display most of my bath products, my medicine chest was due for an overhaul. So now it is organized and airy and everything in there serves a purpose.

All my lotions, powders, oils, sprays, and bubble baths are in the walk-in closet. So on nights when I caftan, I simply walk in there while the bath water is running, and choose a bath gel. After the bath, I walk into my closet to pamper myself with skin lotion, powder and body spray. It’s a great system.

I debuted my new Joan Crawford head towel wrap thingie which worked rather well in the tub leaving my tresses high and dry while I soaked. My hair is now too short to pin up with a hair comb or anything like that, but still long enough to trail in the bathwater. The turban wrap is an excellent solution! It also makes giving myself a Biore facial mask much easier too!

In-between all the bathroom cleaning, I also did the rest of the house so that Friday night the place was glowing as usual.

I took an unusually late and long bath Friday night and it was one of the most satisfying baths I’ve soaked in since moving into Crescentwood. The candles were flickering just precisely the most alluring way, the bubbles (chamomile scented) frothed to perfection, the temperature of the water was enormously satisfying and everything combined to make me stay immersed long enough to drink an entire glass of champagne and watch the clock on my nightstand move ahead almost an entire hour. I didn’t even read a book! I just soaked and contemplated and watched the pretty candles and bubbles.

It was just past ten when I put on an episode of Ab Fab and then afterwards I made Hamburger Helper and Tommy and I watched “Honeymooners” episodes until quite late.

Slept late yet again on Saturday morning. It was a cold, overcast kind of day, perfect for book reading on the couch, which is what I did for most of the day. The cats were incredibly happy about this and argued all day over who got to sit the highest on my body.

Saturday night was more “Honeymooners” and more reading. As I said, the weekend was quite leisurely!

Yesterday was more of the same.

I was supposed to go to Schpinn Quixie for the weekly shop, but successfully staved it off until tonight. This necessitated ordering Italian from Café Roma last night for dinner, but it was yummy and well worth it.

Thomas also had to drink hot chocolate instead of coffee for two days straight, but he hasn’t complained so I think it worked out for him. I drank copious cups of Plantation Mint tea steeped in my lovely little Harrods tea pot from England.

This morning poor Thomas had to clear a smashed Heineken bottle from in front of Kharis before it was safe to drive onto the street. Courtesy of the Club Behind the Eight Ball usual Sunday night crowd. Thank you SO much!

When I got in I discovered that John and his lovely wifey, Jules, had sent us a package from the UK containing many little British gifties including a “Mind the Gap” tee shirt, a tote bag from Jane Austen’s house, a tiny silver bell, PG Tips tea and other various and assorted goodies.

I will be sending them a package after the Thoth parade during which I’ve promised to catch Julie some lovely beads and John a doubloon or two. Their package will also contain some American goodies like Chef Paul’s Meat Magic, packages of Hamburger Helper, and even some maple syrup, since apparently these items don’t translate well on British soil. I’m tempted to send them some of the Eggo syrup I recently discovered, but I’m not sure if John has his heart set on something tried and true or wants to experiment.

Anyway, enough rambling and onwards with the work piled up on my desk!
