Greetings,

It’s a slow Tuesday afternoon at the moment. I’m getting ready to head out into the Wild Blue Yonder (or really just to the next building over) to read my library book for an hour. At some point during this week, I’m going to spend my lunch hour walking to the Riverwalk and back so I can hang out by the water’s edge for a few calming moments and watch the barges and boats and the Mississippi itself. Possibly/probably Thursday.

Last night I spotted the murderer in “Wire in the Blood” before the psychologist or the detective inspector did. Goodness, have I cracked the code? Actually, I don’t think so. The viewers were privy to a few scenes that the psychologist and the detective inspector were not and it all fell into place for me there.

I made tea in the teapots again last night and Thomas dubbed it “AWEsome tea!” which was gratifying, although perhaps a little worrying about previous cups of tea? But I’ve started warming up the milk and that really does add a dimension to the tea drinking experience that Americans normally miss.

I also put the milk and sugar in the mug before the tea. Another British trick.

I do that with coffee too. I put the flavored creamer in first and then pour the coffee on and I never have to use a spoon, plus the coffee just tastes thicker and richer.

I do have to stir the tea though since I use sugar and even pouring in the tea last does not mix it up by itself.

Poor Thomas was only able to fit in 45 minutes of X-Box last night before Mystery Monday on BBC America began. I was reading in the bedroom when he came in to tell me it was two minutes to 7. He’s very considerate that way.

He’s also trying to get up earlier in the morning so he has time to fit in a few minutes before we depart for work. The sight of him in his work clothes sitting on the sofa fighting Count Dooku’s minions with Mace Windu and other Jedi Knights makes me happy somehow.

Apparently there’s a super Tetris type game that came with the X-Box that I am going to try out once Amidala, Obi Wan and Anakin have been rescued.

I must have 5 different versions of the board game Clue tucked away in my closet at home. One from the 1970s, the board I grew up with. One from the 90s that I dislike because I didn’t grow up with it and the characters seem crass and the rooms crudely drawn. One is an Anniversary Edition that comes in a tin box and is quite nice, but not as good as the board I grew up with. One is the Alfred Hitchcock version – the mansion becomes a movie set and the characters all come from Hitchcock movies. Norman Bates is one that I know of for sure. This one technically belongs to Thomas, but I have confiscated it because really I should have gotten it for me in the first place. And I have the PC Clue game which does not live in the closet, but it’s a member of the Clue Family.

Yesterday I ordered the Scooby Doo version from Avon. Instead of the Hall, there’s the Courtyard – where the Mystery Machine is parked. And instead of the Study, there’s the Graveyard out back. Shaggy is Professor Plum, Scooby is Colonel Mustard, Fred is Mr. Green, Velma is Mrs. Peacock and Daphne is Miss Scarlet. Instead of it being Mr. Boddy’s mansion, it’s Mrs. White’s mansion, although on the cover art she still looks like a maid so I don’t know what’s up with that.

Thomas told me he would play this version with me and I am excited. I will ply him with hot chocolate or tea and I’ll even try not to win the game!

Ooo! I have just spoken with Thomas and he has suggested we have a mini Friends-y tonight since the sixth season on DVD just arrived!

Well, it’s lunch time and I should be going.

Until next time,

Olrun
