Greetings,

Tuesday morning and all is well. As I drove past the toll both this morning the toll collector handed me a piece of paper and said, “Mornin’, sweetie, your toll is being paid by the Hornets!” (Local basketball team for those who are not sports-minded.) So I saved a buck thanks to basketball.

When I got to work I called Tom and told him that it must be “basketball karma” since I went to the Final Four a few weeks ago after a decade of avoiding all sports-related activities. He choked and said he never thought he would hear those two words in the same sentence ever.

Last night after work we drove to the Cingular store and set up the new cell phone. The phone we want, a Samsung flip phone with a color screen and lots of bells and whistles, was sold out, but new ones are on their way. I don’t even have to cancel my service with AT&T because the Cingular guy will do that for me. My new phone will cost $108, but there’s a $50 mail in rebate, so that worked out. I get to keep my number too which makes life much easier for friends, families, and credit card companies. We are also going to have text messaging capabilities and everything. Instead of paying $40 a month I will be paying $50 a month, but now Tommy’s pager can talk to the cell phone and that will be awesome. Plus I will be able to actually check for voice mail messages and I can leave the phone on and it won’t discharge after 45 minutes.

Thomas is very excited although apprehensive about my threat (which I fully intend to carry out) to flip open the phone in public and say, “Beam me up, Scotty.” I can’t wait. Maybe I’ll do it in Schwinn Pixie of all places. You never know.

After setting up the phone, we dipped into Pier 1 – a place we haven’t been in quite some time. We ended up with about $40 worth of cool stuff. Cyprus rose scented tea lights, red votive candle holders for Tom’s altar with Fresh Bloom/Lotus scented votives, patchouli ember scented incense, two little magical Indian mirrors, and a paperweight I intend to use in magical Work.

Then we went to Walgreen’s where we got, among other little things, a huge Nestlé’s Crunch bar.

Once home I curled up with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and TVLand while Tom lit new candles and incense and had me come in to sample the ambience.

For some reason the incense made me go into a coughing fit of epic proportions. I coughed for about 5 minutes straight and thought for a while I might end up yakking, but luckily I didn’t. Goddamn sassafrassas flu!

I did not feel like drinking shots or having a glass of champagne to celebrate 7 years of martyrdom, I mean living in New Orleans, so instead we each had some chocolate and a glass of milk. Doesn’t that sound cosmopolitan? Just like something your grandparents would do, eh? Gods, we live on the edge, don’t we?

I’m hoping tonight I can play Sims, but we’ll see. I definitely get to play on Thursday night since it’s my birthday and it’s all about ME ME ME!

Until next time,

Olrun
