There’s an official NFL football sitting on my desk this morning. See what happens when you go to one darn basketball game?

Of course, it’s not *my* football. I’m sort of holding it on my desk for a co-worker. Tomorrow morning I bring it upstairs to a man who apparently used to be a pro football player but now works for my company. And his two sons are apparently big in the college football arena – one is the number one draft pick this year or something. Or maybe it was last year. I don’t know. I never heard of any of them.

But I think it’s hilarious there’s a football on my desk.

Last night while waiting to play Sims (Thomas pre-empted my game time to do some work on the PC), I stumbled across the new season of Jonathan Creek on BBC America’s Mystery Monday. I loved the old Jonathan Creek and did learn through the grapevine - okay, BBC America promos – that a new season was coming to Monday nights and a new female lead as well. This sort of ticked me off because I liked the female lead. However, the new female lead is being played by Julia Sawala– SAFFY from Ab Fab – so how much could I protest? Besides, it was Jonathan Creek and I love him.

For those who don’t know this show - it’s all about stage magic and the “locked room” mystery. Yeah, there are murders, usually, but Jonathan Creek is not a detective, he’s a magician’s assistant. He thinks up elaborate stage tricks featuring sleight of hand, distraction, and “impossible” escapes. Because of the female lead in the show (who used to be a journalist and now Julia plays a TV. presenter), he gets dragged into these mysteries which feature “that couldn’t have happened” impossible escapes, set ups, thefts, etc.

In between solving the mystery, you learn a lot about stage magic, which is fun.

Anyway, I made the “mistake” of telling Thomas that Saffy was on Jonathan Creek and this meant that Thomas ended up watching the show with me. We decided it would be a weekly show for us to watch together. We will brew up some tea and be all smug and British.

Speaking of tea – Thomas is a huge fan of our new tea kettle. He played with the self opening/self closing handle for several minutes and greatly admired the shining blackness of it. He’s been trying to entice me to make tea with it and now Jonathan Creek gives me the perfect reason.

Since he watched Saffy last night, it meant his work was delayed which meant that I read the first Harry Potter until I decided to go read in bed and by the time Thomas came in to tell me I could play Sims, I had already closed the book and settled down for the night. (It was really late too – practically 9 p.m.!!!)

So no Sims for me last night.

However, tonight I have been cleared for Sims-ing and I aim to NOT go read in bed even if I have to wait past dinner for the PC to free up.

I should be receiving the first season of X-Files on DVD this morning or afternoon. I tracked the package as far as New Orleans yesterday. Woo hoo! I’m thinking maybe Friday night we could watch an episode. Maybe Ice or Darkness Falls????

Also, I can report with much glee that all that moaning I did about Millennium not being available on DVD is over. I was notified recently that the first season is OUT.

Naturally, I have pre-ordered and this July should see me settling down to watch Frank kick some serial killer ass. This is INCREDIBLY cool!

Oh, it never did stop raining yesterday but I was able to return my library books due to the generosity (and boredom) of a co-worker who volunteered to drive me there and wait in the car while I returned the books and then drive me back to the office. (With a pit stop at McDonald’s to get her box a box of fries.)

So I didn’t get any new books, but I don’t owe any money and I can go today if I like because while the forecast predicts rain, it’s nice and sunny out.

I think that wraps everything I can possibly think of to report (and then some).
